Android One set to strikes Hardware Markets

2014 Google I/O conference, where Android L and material design were unveiled, was launched a reference platform for budget smart phones referred to as Android One. Companies are vying to launch budget smart phones using Android One. The first company to go ahead with the launch would be Micromax. This would be quickly followed by the others which include names like Karbonn, Spice, Intex and Celkon.
What’s Different?
This reference platform from Google would be a complete game changer for the hardware introduced in budget smart phones. Google will come up with the whole material design and the hardware design for these budget smartphones. With this Google would introduce a sense of uniformity with respect to hardware being used in the budget smartphones.
Sometime back, Google had introduced Android 4.4 Kitkat, which solved software issues that may line up in the budget smart phones. With Android One, Google attempts to bring in relatively smart budget phones with uniform hardware.
The Demo Version
By the end of this fall, Indian manufacturers would begin production of their first ever budget smart phone using the Android One reference platform. The demo version was showcased by Google sometime in this week. This demo piece comprised of a 4.5” display, dual sim option. The dual sim is considered to be an important hardware inclusion especially for the developing markets. The demo piece also illustrated a SD card slot which is another important hardware member in the present times.
The Big Shift
With the evolving budget smart phone market, it has become essential to cater to them with an exuberant user experience. Currently, not many budget smart phones have introduced the latest versions of Android on their phones. This is probably the reason why the app stores on these phones are not updated.
One of the classic examples of the big shift would be the latest low end models introduced by Motorola. They were successful phones and generated a whole new customer database for Motorola.
While Nokia and Mozilla are raging wars in the budget smart phone market, Google is leading in market share. With Android One reference platform, it will maintain its leading position!
