Chat rooms concept is not new and in old times of internet Chat rooms was quite a hit and now Facebook presents you the new standalone chat app for iOS (for now and while coming soon to Android as well ) where users can create group chats depending on their favorite topics.
The new Rooms app is available in US and UK but remember that it’s not the part of Facebook. Individual rooms can be created and users can share photos, videos and text which sounds just like Facebook news feeds whereas Like button can be customized per user requirement such as image shown below.
Room creators have to invite you to join in the room and then you can start participating while for this app use QR code that can be scanned or you can use it by printing offline. It’s a good measure for moderation and security as who will join the chat and who should not. users have the freedom to share their views, notes, photos, videos etc without revealing their identity and they can use Rooms being anonymous and there is no restriction like Facebook here where you must have to give your Real name.
Rooms is basically chat rooms decorated for like minded people who want to gather at one place and talk about something common and interact as the way they like. Josh Miller, Facebook Product Manager has described Rooms as something created for modern mobile generation by taking hints from earl Web era and basically this app is inspired from forums, chat rooms, communities etc.
You just need to download the app, it will be prompted you to join or create a new Room and customize it. Rooms are specifically concentrated on certain topics, places and events. Customization of Rooms includes description, change the looks, settings change for like button as what it will trigger so let’s say you can set it as see/Seen. QR codes invitation will be created and they can be share one-one or one-to-many so that other people can create your Room easily and it will also bring moderation into consideration.
