A Big Display Is Not Enough; iPhone 6 To Sport Haptic Tech
The Chinese media is now reporting that the Apple may have a brand new trick up its sleeve in the form of haptic technology for its display. We have been seeing leaked images and even got a demo of the actual 4.7 inch iPhone 6’s front panel being stress tested, but Apple thinks that even all of this is not enough.
We were indeed impressed by the front panel’s stress test and were not hoping for anything more, but Apple according to the Chinese media will bringing in some new haptic technology that delivers minor vibrations depending on where one touches the screen. This would indeed come as good news for developers as the applications for haptics in games will be limitless. Still then, apps will also see a big advantage as most of the iOS apps do take the OS to the limits turning them into works of art.
Sadly, the new haptic tech does come at a price; 2 to 3 times the price of the haptic motor (the one that creates the vibration on your phone) in the iPhone 5s. So there may indeed be a rise in prices. But knowing that Apple will build so many iPhones this year, we think that the price of the haptic motors will drop to a minimum.
the iPhone 6 may feature haptic tech that is supposedly superior to the current crop of touch displays. The new tech is rumored to have a wider variety of application specific, subtle vibrations, and even deliver different types of vibrations based on where you press on the screen.
With this improved technology, however, comes an increased price: the new haptic motor will cost 2 or 3 times more than the iPhone 5s’ unit.
